ABOUT

A little about me....

Patricia is a professional artist and muralist based in Dallas, Texas. She studied Painting and Design at Mountain View College after graduating from Booker T. Washington (Arts Magnet) and has since shown at the Dallas Museum of Art, where she previously worked, as well as various galleries and venues including: RO2 Galleries (DALLAS), SITE: BROOKLYN (New York), Bedford Gallery(CA), Lemieux Galleries (NOLA), Kirk Hopper Gallery (DALLAS),African American Museum,WAAS Gallery, Gravelmouth Gallery (San Antonio), Baylor Health Services Library, Luminarte Gallery, NRG (Los Angeles), Keller Town Hall, Start Gallery Dallas, Rising Gallery, The Janette Kennedy Gallery, Kettle Art Gallery, Avenue Arts Venue, Gallery at Midtown, Orisons Fine Art, The Ice House, BANK ONE, Bath House Cultural Center and Art Centric in the Design District. She has worked on projects with RED BULL, CAPITAL ONE, SXSW and internationally at the Water Tower Gallery (Israel).

Her personal painting process involves the use of acrylic paints and spray paint in a technique which "carves" out shapes and space from the negative space. Her approach to painting is organic and spontaneous with no sketches or drawing done beforehand. The painting evolves naturally on it's own much like the plantlife she draws inspiration from. Alien landscapes and plant formations are the theme of the latest creations. Everything is handpainted and many layered with no use of stencils, only brushes.

Her passion for the visual arts has led her to not only show in numerous exhibits but also curate a few group shows of her own. She participated as a co-owner of Q.E.D. Gallery in the Bishop Arts District (Dallas) in the late 90's- featuring emerging artists and group art exhibitions. She was responsible for curating the show "The Natural State" at Avenue Arts Venue and most recently the 14th Annual Hecho En Dallas exhibition at the Latino Cultural Center. She has interviewed and spotlighted many local artists and art venues in the DFW area via "I AM BILINGUE" a bilingual website where she advocated the local arts and culture scene

She has received press in the Dallas Morning News, The Observer, The ADVOCATE, QUICK DFW and Oak Cliff People for her art and innovative events coordinated through her collective The Lollipop Shoppe, of which she has been a co-founder since 2004. Her work has also been featured in Studio Visit Magazine, Latino Leaders Magazine, the 2013 engagement calendar FINE ART IN DALLAS published by CityArtCal, COMPOSITE ART MAGAZINE, PATRON ART MAGAZINE and has had work published in the Wichita Falls Literature and Art Review Magazine

Patricia is currently working in the studio on a new body of work and travelling around doing freelance painting.
